Q: For the Walker Health Law Moot, both appellant and respondent teams submit their factums at the same time. Thus, how can the respondent teams be expected to respond?
A: It would be impractical to require a response, as the respondent teams will be presenting their cases against multiple appellant teams during preliminary rounds and possibly more thereafter. Consequently, each team's factum is due on the same day, and respondents will make their general arguments in their factum. However, respondents will have the opportunity to use their oral arguments to respond to specific arguments presented by opposing counsel.
Q: What should I wear come Moot day?
A: Business professional is the expected standard.
Q: How should I address a member of the panel?
A: Please refer to members of the panel as “Justice”, “Mr. Justice” or “Madam Justice”.
Q: Will participants receive their marks for their oral and written arguments?
A: Students may receive a copy of their marks, to be distributed through email sometime after the Moot.
Q: Will family and friends be allowed to attend the moot?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I record the Moot?
A: No. However, The Walker Health Law Moot Committee will record all Zoom Mooting rounds, and upon request, will provide students with a copy of the recording.
Q: Can I provide judges with a Book of Authorities?
A: No, students should not provide judges with a Book of Authorities.
